Barry Grant - CGRA Chairman

93 Frankland Road
Telephone:01923 778660
Barry was elected Chairman at the November 2008 Extraordinary General Meeting.
“We moved into New Road in 1982 and now live in Frankland Road. My wife, Mandy, works at Little Green School and my eldest son, James, works in Croxley attending to most of Croxley’s IT needs.
My first recollections of Croxley are from fishing on Common Moor when I was a kid when I would cycle up from my parents house in Stanmore. I’ve been involved with the Revels Committee for over 20 years and have been chairman of the Keep Croxley Green Group since its inception in 2004. I maintain a keen interest in the developments affecting our community and I felt, in taking on the Chair of the Association, that there was an opportunity to improve the line of communication between all the component parts of our community”.

Tony Munroe - Vice Chairman and "The Resident" advertising
I was born and lived in Paddington West London until moving to Croxley with my wife Vanessa in the summer of 1995. It was such a big contrast from city life but it didn’t take long before we realised what a wonderful place Croxley is, especially its strong sense of community. I still remember the warm welcome we received from our neighbours whom we still have a lovely relationship with to this day.
I have been actively involved in the community for a number of years now from helping out at my children’s schools with fund raising and as a volunteer, to serving as a Parish Councillor and now as a member on both the Resident Association and Croxley Road Safety committees.
I have swapped roles with my wife becoming a househusband, so I do spend a vast amount of my time around Croxley and willing get involved with issues that benefit our community.
There will always be pressures for changes that could force Croxley to lose its identity such as extensive building projects or other local issues that need to be addressed such as school places and road safety. We are fortunate that we have a strong and active Resident Association, which is willing to take on these issues so we can all have a community that we are proud to be part off.

I am a part time teacher and mum of two. Born and bred in Croxley, the furthest away I got was Harrow. We moved back to Croxley, via Northwood, in 2005. Elder child attends Yorke Mead school, younger can regularly be seen scooting out of control down the roads of Croxley.
I became a member of CGRA to represent the younger generation(!) and to ensure that the place I love and know can retain as much of its character as possible whilst still being a great place to live in the 21st Century.

I was born in Croxley Green and have lived most of my life here. I work part time in the NHS and have been involved with the CGRA and with the editing of the Croxley Green Resident for almost 20 years.
I am keenly interested in the history, environment and conservation of the area (especially Yorke Road School and The Great Barn) and belong to the Keep Croxley Green Group. I attended Yorke Road School, Harvey Road (as a parent governor when my sons attended) and Rickmansworth School.
I am a fundraiser for the Rebeat Club at Harefield Hospital and Cats Protection. I care very much about Croxley Green and would not want to live anywhere else. I feel I can contribute to the community by being part of the CGRA committee.

I’ve lived in Croxley for nearly 30 years, working at a local School for over 15 years. I care passionately about our village which has provided a safe and friendly community for my two sons to grow up in. I have been a keen member of the CGRA for the past 5 years ever since I went, cap in hand, with a request for the Association to support residents campaigning to protect local woodland from development.
I’m also a member of the Keep Croxley ‘Green’ Group which works hard to protect and maintain our greenbelt environs, as well as being involved in a new project, Flowers4Croxley, which aims to provide floral initiatives around the village.
I would encourage any resident (or visitor) reading this to take the time to visit some of Croxley’s treasures including local bluebell woodlands, Common Moor, Croxley Great Barn, or to walk some of the numerous footpaths which weave through unspoilt countryside all around our village. If you already know these places, you will understand why Croxley is such a special place to live.

Although not born in Croxley, I have lived here for most of my life and went to Malvern Way and Harvey Road Schools. I met my husband Keith, at All Saints Young Communicants Youth Club and married in the Church.
I joined the CGRA and was co-opted onto the Parish Council being concerned with the environment and the future development of our village.
I am a Governor of Malvern Way School and a committee member of Keep Croxley Green Group, through the actions of the group, the residents of Croxley enjoy walking and playing in the area known as the Buddleia Walk, the New Village Green.
On leaving the Parish Council I returned to the CGRA committee and now look forward to many exciting and innovative projects under the leadership of our present Chair.

David Neighbour
I was born in Rickmansworth but have lived in Croxley for over 50 years. All my sons were educated at Durrants; one son and four grandchildren are all still here in Croxley. My father worked at the mill as did I for a short while. My career covered service in the Merchant Navy and then the Royal Air Force and I travelled world wide. I served for six years in the part-time Fire Service.
I obtained my professional qualifications as a Building Surveyor (studying for 10 years) and after working for several local councils. I finished as Head of Building Control, retiring after 44 years service.
My interests are in history, especially the local history of Croxley, and my hobbies include bird watching, fishing, gardening and where possible, helping in the community.

Living in Croxley Green since 1985, and born in West Hyde, I have always lived in SW Herts.
In 1990 after joining the Residents Association, I was a Parish Councillor from 1991 for 9 years.
In conjunction with an organisation, Common Ground, that encouraged Local Distinction about the place in which you live, I designed and produced the Parish Map for the PC. I also produced a plan for ‘Stones Orchard’ which involved all the local schools in replanting trees known to have grown there; also produced a booklet about its history. Whilst on the PC, I was Chairman of the Environment Committee for most of my service and organised community involved competitions; these included Gardens, Photography and Jnr Schools’ “Painting for Environmental Awareness” issues. I was a ‘player’ in the ‘Croxley Mummers’ for many years playing the part of the Turkish Knight and The Giant! I enjoy all aspects of the ‘outdoor life’ and collecting Local History.

I am relatively new to Croxley Green but a born (Amersham) and bred home counties person via Montreal (Canada), Leeds, and Kingsbury. I down-sized from an anonymous suburb in 2005 and retired to Croxley Green and delighted in its village atmosphere.
I wondered if I had any skills left over from a professional life in Medical Research that could be useful to integrating into my new environment. The Residents' Association was looking for a Secretary in 2008 and I was delighted when they accepted my offer to serve. I was sad to resign on grounds of ill health in March 2012. I have made new friends through this lively Residents' Association.
The Residents' Association has had serious village-related issues to deal with, and more to come. There are already expert and experienced residents on the committee but I would dearly love to see more residents taking a leading role in protecting and shaping the future of our lovely village.
