Repeating the successful event held in previous years, the local Cancer Research UK Committee are again holding an Autumn Fayre in the Village Hall at Sarratt. There will be a wide range of stallholders including books, bags, jewellery, fashion, homeware, children’s toys and gifts. There will also be home-made cakes, jams and charity cards and of course a raffle! Refreshments (cakes and beverages) will be available throughout the day.

September 2014 - Bringing the pond back to life
Croxley Green Parish Council have agreed a budget of £1,000 given to Little Green Residents Association to "restore the pond to its former glory"

Members of the public are invited to a community rugby event to be held at Chess Valley RFC ground this month. The event, which will see off duty police officers playing against the Chess Valley RFC team, is also offering people who attend a whole host of other family attractions.
The event will be held at The Guild in The Green, Croxley Green, WD3 3HT from 1pm until on Sunday 28 September. The rugby match will kick off at 3pm.
Attractions on the day include:
Meet Saracens players and Sarrie the Camel
Inflatables
Raffle and tombola
Police vehicles
Activities for children
Free bike security marking
Crime prevention advice
Join Neighbourhood Watch
Refreshments will also be available.

We are looking for Croxley’s most pleasant garden; it doesn’t have to be perfect as long as you are proud of it! A gardening voucher will be awarded to the winners of each category.

Below is an order from TRDC as to changes in parking in Community Way and Barton Way
THE THREE RIVERS (RICKMANSWORTH) (OFF STREET PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2006 (AMENDMENT No. 2) ORDER 2014
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Three Rivers District Council, acting as agents for the Hertfordshire County Council and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the general effect of the order would be to make changes to the existing parking arrangements as follows:
The Community Way Off-Street Car Park – In 14 marked parking spaces the restriction of parking to 2 hours maximum with no return in one hour on Mondays to Saturdays between the hours of 8.30am and 6.30pm and the alteration of 5 parking spaces to provide parking for 3 disabled driver’s vehicles.
The Barton Way Recreation Grounds Off-Street Car Park – In 10 marked parking spaces the restriction of parking to 2 hours maximum with no return in one hour on Mondays to Saturdays between the hours of 8.30am and 6.30pm and the provision of parking for 1 disabled driver’s vehicle.

17th February 2014 - Homes evacuated after sink hole appears in Dugdales, Croxley Green
You can see the Watford Observer article about the Croxley Green sink hole HERE and below you can see a map that shows how close the sink hole is to the proposed building on green belt land at Killingdown Farm. Police were called to Dugdales on 16th February after a sink hole appeared in the garden of a property leading to the evacuation of a house and flats.

February 2014 - Infrastructure Planning of a new school, are you familiar with the process?
Dear reader,
The following document came into our possession recently. Whilst we are uncertain as to its origin, authenticity, or even if it applies across the country, the content certainly describes a process that is familiar to us. What do you think?
County Council infrastructure planning – a 20 point guide
1. County Council is responsible for providing secondary schools.
2. County Council looks at overall budget and decides it needs to raise money. It sees that huge revenues can be created by selling off school land to developers and reaping annual council tax.
3. County Council closes secondary school(s) - it commissions numerous reports until one report justifies closure e.g. not enough demand.
4. County Council sells school site(s) to developer(s) who build 100’s of dwellings - which provides council tax and increases demand for secondary schools (see 6).
5. County Council hangs on to former secondary school playing fields in Green Belt for "educational purposes" – refers to process as “husbandry”.
6. Primary school parents arrange local meetings bemoaning the lack of local secondary schools – primarily because so many have been closed in an area where so many new dwellings have been built. Noise alerts County Council that it may have to plan for a new school.
7. Having artificially created demand, County Council identifies its ideal site for a new school on Green Belt land.
8. County Council commissions consultants, at great expense, to look for site for new school(s) on greenfield sites.
9. Consultants purchase a large map and rings greenfield sites (including parkland and playing fields).
10. Consultants recommend small list of preferred sites that includes (7).
11. County Council chooses its preferred site (see 7).
12. County Council forces local planning authority to place its preferred site on a Local Plan and remove it from Green Belt designation.
13. LPA cannot possibly consult with public on proposed loss of Green Belt as its councillors would not get voted in at next election so consults on putting schools on land, hoping the public won’t notice this will mean the land will become ex Green Belt Land.
14. Ignoring results of public consultation (which asked the wrong question anyway (see 13)) County Council compulsory purchases Green Belt land.
15. County Council realises that the Green Belt land rises too steeply to support playing fields.
16. County Council compulsory purchases flatter Green Belt land nearby to serve as playing fields.
17. Realising this is becoming an expensive process, County Council sells former school field (see 5&6) it has previously managed to deregister from Green Belt to a developer and pockets sale proceeds that will be used for “educational purposes” within the County.
18. County Council either a) builds school on Green Belt land or b) realising costs of building on land (under which run several water courses) is not practical or too expensive – starts process again at (7) and sells land to developers for 100’s of houses.
19. In the meantime large brownfield sites become available and are developed for housing, supermarkets, hotels.....
20. County Council announces support for “Localism” and “Neighbourhood Planning”.

Consultation: Three Rivers District Council’s Draft Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Local Development Document (LDD).
Three Rivers District Council is undertaking consultation for a period of six weeks on an updated version of the Draft Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Local Development Document (LDD) which gives effect to policies in the adopted Three Rivers Core Strategy by allocating sites for Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople. The consultation period will run from 24 January 2014 to 7 March 2014.
We are only seeking views on the suitability of sites and not the principle of allocating sites. The principle of allocating sites for Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople is set out in the adopted Core Strategy which was the subject of previous consultations. The Council will consider all responses received during the consultation and will also assess the suitability of any additional sites brought forward.
